One of the most important tools for creating a Jig is Transparency.

During the Jig making process you will gradually fill the scene up with models, some of which are only needed on certain Steps. Transparency allows you to hide these models and reveal them only on the Steps that discuss them. This can be vital to maintaining a clear focus to each Step.

Adding Transparency

To use the Transparency:

  1. Tap the Object you wish to change.
  2. Select the Colour tool {icon-colour.svg} on the toolbar to open the Colour Menu.
  3. Press the Hide tool {icon-visible.svg} to turn the objects transparency OFF or ON
  4. Drag the slider bellow the Hide tool {icon-visible.svg} to change the level of transparency.

Making Objects semi-transparent

This transparency feature can also be used for making objects semi transparent to help you discuss internal components while staying conscious of its place in the machine.

To edit an Objects level of Transparency:

  1. Tap the Object you wish to change.
  2. Select the Color tool {icon-colour.svg} on the toolbar to open the Color Menu.
  3. Press and drag on the transparency slider until you reach the desired level.

How to find Hidden Objects

If you have accidently hidden an Object on every Step of your Jig and aren't able to select them because you're unsure where it sits in your scene, there is a method for revealing them on a Step.

To Reveal all hidden Objects:

  1. Add a new Step {icon-add-steps.svg} to your Timeline.
  2. Select a visible Object in your scene.
  3. Press Add to Selection {icon-multiselect.svg} to open the Multi-select menu.
  4. Choose Select All {icon-select-all.svg}. (This will select every object in your scene.)
  5. Select the Color tool {icon-colour.svg} to open the color menu.
  6. Press Unhide {icon-invisible.svg} to reveal all objects on this Step.

You can now select the Object on the Step where every Object is visible. When you go to a different Step your Object will remain selected and you can perform edits on it.

Note: When you are finished with your Jig don't forget to delete the extra Step you created.
