To add textures to an Object you have to be in the Object Mode {icon-object-mode.svg}

If your object is highlighted green, (or in the case of grouped sub-objects, purple) and the toolbar displays the Sub-object Mode {icon-sub-object-mode.svg} button, you’re in sub-object mode. Tap on this icon to switch back to Object Mode {icon-object-mode.svg}

Textures only show up in the Standard and the Unlit materials. The Standard material should be the default on import. If you have something else selected you can go to the color {icon-colour.svg} in the toolbar, and in the the material tab, make sure you have the Standard material selected.

Note: To add a Texture to a 3D model, that model first requires a UV map.

Basic Textures

To add Textures to an Object:

  1. Tap to select you Object.
  2. Select the Color tool {icon-colour.svg} in the toolbar to open the Color menu.
  3. Check that you have the Standard or Unlit material selected in the material menu.
  4. Press the Texture tab to open the texture menu.
  5. Tap the Apply an image button, then Upload File and select your Texture image from your folders.

The texture image will be applied to the objects Diffuse Channel.

Advanced Textures

During the 5th step above you also have the option to  switch to advanced texturing.

Here there are three types of textures that you can add to an Object.

  • Diffuse map - mainly used for color information
  • Normal map - used for bumps and height details.
  • RMA map includes three maps applied to its three color channels.

Note: Roughness map in Red, Metalness map in Green, and the Ambient Occlusion map in Blue.

To Remove textures from an Object:

  1. Tap to select you Object.
  2. Select the Color tool{icon-colour.svg} in the toolbar to open the color menu.
  3. Press the Texture tab to open the texture menu.
